Effects of Sulfide Ion on the Rabbit LDH Isoenzyme Activity

Abstract
|
|
|
1. H4-LDH and M4-LDH were purified front the rabbit cardiac and gluteus muscle about 10- and 12-fold respectively by means of salting out with ammonium sulfate and DEAE column chromatography.
2. H4-LDH was more markedly inhibited than M4-LDH by pyruvate.
3. On the contrary to pyruvate inhibition, M4-LDH was more markedly inhibited than H4-LDH by cysteine and hydrogen sulfide ion. It seems that inhibitory effect of cysteine is due to ionization of sulfhydryl group of cysteine.
4. Coupled inhibition of pyruvate and cysteine may be applied to differential analysis of serum LDH isoenzymes.
